Welcome to Public BETA
Land of Camelot is now entering the public beta stage. We are now linking to the game
globally through NFreak.net, and this means we should be getting a lot more people to come and
play. Remember, the game is NOT complete yet, but it is fully functional. Please continue
testing things out, and be sure to let us know if you find anything wrong, or have any
suggestions. We have received a lot of great suggestions from people in the past month or so,
and we will do what we can to make this game as big as possible. Realize that this is a much,
much bigger game than Arena in terms of raw coding, and we are even going the extra mile by
drawing unique images for all items, enemies, and equipment pieces, as well as alternate drawings
for the items worn on the character.
Here are some of the more popular suggestions we have received. First off, the implementation of player versus
player (or PVP) battles. This is something we would like to see as well in the final release of the
game, but it is something we are going to wait for, at least until the class system is complete. This
isn't something that will be necessarily difficult to implement, but rather the hard part will be balancing things
out so that one class is not better than any other class.
Battling multiple enemies at once is another thing we are considering. If we allow this, we will
need to re-do the battle system, but since we are already planning on re-working the system, we will
wait until that time to decide. This is something that will be very difficult to code, but if
we can get it working rather smoothly, we think it would be a great idea as well.
Finally, I have received several complaints about the trauma stat. Many people seem to think that
winning a battle should not result in a timed penalty before fighting again. To compensate, we will
lower the trauma times for battles that are won, but we will probably not rule it out completely.
The trauma system prevents people from continuously battling, and may keep malicious bots at bay.
Once the final game is released, that 40 second waiting period between battles won't seem like much
at all. That will give you time to check your PMs, deal with the item drops, and plan your next move.
Thank you all for your continued beta-testing, and just remember that there's lots more to come.
Welcome to everyone that is new to LoC, and if you need any help with the game, send us a PM, or
send one to another high-ranking member that already understands the game mechanics. Thanks!!!

Happy New Year!
Although I have not coded anything new in the past month, we have been re-thinking a few
core elements for the game. Many important decisions must be made before we decide to make
the class additions. Equipment properties will probably be reduced, as the game will focus
heavily on scrolling armors and weapons for their power. While the scrolls have not been added
yet, this may falsely lead you to think this is a bad idea, however, you will soon find out
how complex and unique the scrolling features will be. Those "slots" next to your equipment
represent the amount of scrolls you will be able to use on your armor. A scroll will have
three major properties: (1) the type of equipment it modifies (head, shoulder, sword), (2)
the success rate (50%, 75%, 100%, etc), and (3) the powers that it will give your item (such
as an extra strength point or stamina point). If the scroll fails to work, it will still
reduce the amount of slots that you have left by one. What this means is that there is a lot
of risk-taking involved in scrolling powerful equips. If you still do not understand the
scrolling system, you soon will. We promise that you will enjoy the final product, and we think
that this idea is going to work out perfectly.
Also, we have been thinking of adding a character model, which allows you to pick things such
as skin tone, hair style, and facial properties upon registering, and your equipment will show up
on your character model when worn. There are much more important things that must be worked on
first, but this idea is still in the air. If you have any feedback, please post it in the chatroom.
Thank you all for testing the game, and have a Happy New Year!

Keeping you updated
Thank you all for continuing to beta-test the LoC. We have been putting a few hours
(or more) every day into this game, and it is time to post an update on what has
been going on. You may not have noticed too many changes in the past few days, but a
lot of work has been done behind the scenes. The trade script has been modified so now
you can request a trade without designating an item. If you please, you may create
multiple accounts and use them to test out the trade script. Try and find some flaws with
it, if you can. I do not want a trade loophole to exist during the launch of the game.
Moving on. There are 11 enemies publicly available, but 23 total enemies added to the
database, all containing their own unique images and loot. The new 12 enemies will show
up within the next day or two along with many new areas leading up to the next major
city. Level 5 gear has also been added, but not yet tagged onto enemy drops. Finally,
level 5 rare gear has also been added, but not yet tagged. The rare gear will have a
green-colored name, so you will immediately know that it is rare. If you happen to
come across one of these items after the area updates arrive, PM me or loddeykins
so we can keep track of appropriate drop rates. Thank you all very much for supporting
the game.

P.S. Thank you very much Blink for the new logo.

Welcome, Beta-Testers
Although it has been quite some time since the last news post, the Land of Camelot
has been under heavy construction quite recently. First off, the game is probably
about 75% done coding-wise, but only 10% done database wise. Once the coding is
complete, the game will essentially have been put together, but there will not be a
whole lot to explore until the databases get filled with new items, enemies, and areas.
I ask everyone that is beta-testing to keep this a secret. You may tell other people
your thoughts about the game, but do not use the name of the game in your discussion.
This is a private beta-test only, and if the game gets leaked, it may be only accessible
to a few people until the official launch date (which I hope to make by Thanksgiving). If you
notice any bugs in the game, please notify me immediately. Thank you all for helping
during the private beta session of the game, and I would very much appreciate any new
ideas or feedback that you might have!

I've been debating a template redesign, possibly making the page wider, but
alienating people with an 800 by 600 resolution (very small percentage). I'm not
sure if this a good idea yet, but if I go through with it, it will allow for more content
to be displayed in the same area of the page. For now I'll be working on this
project using a wider template perfect for users using a 1024 by 768 resolution.
Check back frequently for more updates.

This game is currently under construction. Not much has been done yet, but the
basic layout has been set into place, and the template has been coded in such a
way that will allow me to easily make minor edits to all the pages through an
organized include system. Expect more updates and possibly a private beta to take
place in the coming weeks. This is still a massive work in progress, as basically
nothing has been done yet.
